The Body Shop faves and hates.

The Body Shop is one of the skincare brand that is worth investing in. Their products are known for marvelous quality, natural integrals and for their performance. Before jumping into my favourites and not so favourites, let’s get to know some fact about this renowned brand.

The Body Shop is a British cosmetics and skin-care  company which is now in hands of L’Oreal. They were founded in 1976 and are against animal testing. Their commitment is to enrich, not exploit. The Body Shop launched the campaign, “open the gate to goodness” with Nadia Hassan. A very famous Pakistani blogger, ‘Mahnoor’s Haul’, wrote a really nice blog on this event. Check out her blog here. The Body Shop is one of the high quality brand that is easily accessible for anyone in Pakistan. I have been using The Body Shop so very much that I have a humongous range of products to consider. So, let’s get going:

The Body Shop Peppermint intensive foot rescue:

This a foot hydrating foot cream which incorporates cocoa butter, peppermint oil and grape acids. These ingredients soften hard skin and help prevent dry cracked heels. Well, solely, I have not been using this product for a very long time but I’m still loving it.

Pros: It has a cordial peppermint fragrance that enlivens you up.  It’s very saturating and hydrating. They vouch for using it overnight, twice a week. In the morning, I feel my feet  hydrated and youthful. Works tremendous for me. Profoundly recommended.

Cons: The formula does not absorb very well, so you would have to wear socks so that you may not slip.

The Body Shop Forbidden flower shower gel:

As you can see, it’s already finish. I bought this shower due to it’s mesmerizing aura. I cannot really tell whether it made any difference on my skin except that me and my washroom were always refreshed with this euphoric aroma. Just like the bottle, the formula is also black i color and gel like consistency.

Pros: amazingly scented.

Cons: no apparent skincare benefits gained.

My preference: 3/5.

The Body Shop Tea tree face mask

The Body Shop’s tea tree line is especially designed for the blemished skin. I really believe in their tea tree collection because it really solved my acne dilemmas. Regular use of their face wash, moisturizer and mask prevents future acne. It instantly cools down the skin and lifts away the impurities.

Pros: Literally prevents acne. Safe to use during pregnancy. Great cooling effect. It does what it claims.

Cons: No cons that I have experienced.

My preference: 5/5

The Body Shop’s tea tree face washes

As I mentioned before, how immense this line is. Each and every product in this line adds up to prove it’s goodness. I tried tea tree foaming cleanser and facial wash. Both are excellent but The foaming cleanser will suit oily skin types. Whereas, the facial cleanser would work just fine for normal to combination skin.

Pros: Not over drying. Natural tea tree fragrance. It does what it claims.

Cons: The facial cleanser does not wash off very easily.

My preference: 4/5

The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter

Body Butters are the Body shop’s bestsellers forever. They are used all across the world. However, I do not like the incense of all of them. I liked this Moringa though. The scent is very subtle and natural. It works great in winters. The thick consistency really pampers up the skin leaving it soft and moisturized. Highly recommended for people with dry skin. My mother-in-law has dry skin and she cannot live without this in winters. No other lotion or moisturizer works as adequately good for her as this one.

Pros: lovely redolence. Very moisturizing and comfortable on skin. Lasts for a very long time.

Cons: No cons for me.

My preference: 5/5

The Body Shop Born Lippy lip balms:

The Body Shop Born Lippy lip balms

The Body Shop has variety of lip balms, oils and butters. This is from Born Lippy range. These are in flavors ‘watermelon’ and ‘passion fruit’. It does not really claims anything on the packaging. This is that one product of The Body Shop that I really does not like. I would not recommend this at all. My dry lips remains dry, no matter how many times I apply it. I have been using them in my night time skincare routine but in the morning what I always discovered were chapped and dry lips.

Pros: These flavors, out of all other ones, are my favorite. Subtle hint of color on lips.

Cons: Not very effective in moisturizing lips.

My preference: 1/5

The Body Shop Seaweed Pore-cleansing Facial Exfoliator:

This Sea Weed Pore-cleansing facial exfoliator is suitable for people with combination skin. It contains oil- control properties. However, It won’t be very effective for oil skin types, especially when used alone. I have been using this in shower lately. It makes my skin feel squeaky clean and replenished. However, It does not work for me in oil-control department.

Pros: skin feels clean, refreshed and radiant.

Cons: does not control oil effectively.

My preference: 3/5

The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion:

THE BODY SHOP Vitamin C microdermabrasion

This scrub has really fine particles and is a home remedy for high-tech dermabrasion treatments at salons. However, it really work wonders for your skin. It removes the dead skin cells more accurately then normal scrubs. Minimizes the formation of black heads. I have given myself a pause from it during my pregnancy. Because I had my doubts about it’s chemicals.

Pros: Really effective in removing dead skin cells. Leaves skin in best condition. Skin feels radiant, glared up and neat.

Cons: The scent is not very appealing.

My preference: 5/5

The Body Shop British Rose Instant Glow Body Essence:

THE BODY SHOP British rose instant glow body essence

I loved it when I saw this at The Body Shop’s mall of Lahore outlet. I wanted something light for summers to put on my skin. That should feel light but at the same time hydrates. The guy at the store recommended me this. It’s a light weight formula with a very alluring fragrance. The formula is sparkly milky white but it turns baby pink as soon as it touches your skin. How cool is that?

Pros: Gives an instant glow to your skin. Hydrates your skin. Euphoric scent.

Cons: A little sticky.

My preference: 4/5

The Body Shop detangling comb:

 

Wooden Detangling Comb by THE BODY SHOP

I really needed something like this. A great tool that works for your wet strands. A wooden comb or hair redistribute your hair oils uniformly in your hair. They have the tendency to absorb hair’s natural oils. This leave your locks not only shiny but smooth also. A really healthy tool to put on your vanity.

Pros: Makes your hair smoother and healthy in the longer run. Combs you wet hair nicely without pulling.

Cons: It can get deshaped if mishandled.

My preference: 5/5
