Well ladies, so summers are back and so is our slick and oily skin. We all have been there when you see your face in the mirror during the day and it’s all filled with sebum and oils. Don’t feel discouraged because this summer, we got you!
Here are the, tested and tried, top five hacks to beat those oils.
1. Blotting papers;
Keep handy lots of blotting papers. Next time you’re out and see oils emerging up on your face, just grab some blotting papers, press them against your skin and it will absorb all the oils. Don’t rub them against your face, just pressing and dabbing will do the things. Clean and clear blotting sheets and Palladio blotting sheets are really good. You can easily find them at any major departmental store such as Hyperstar or Al-fatah.
2. Primers and powders;
Here’s a thing. The more you apply primer on your face before foundation allows you to use powder afterwards. But if you will use powder without using the primer underneath, your foundation will appear cakey. We recommend ‘The smashbox photofinish primer’ and ‘The benefit porefessional primer’. You can order these primers from ‘Fashion Afford’ On Instagram here. Just drop them a DM and they will get it for you.
3. Suitable face wash
One should use a face wash according to their skin types. Foaming facial washes are oily skin types best friends. Cream based cleansers and facial washes will leave your skim oily during the day. ‘The Body Shop Tea tree range’ is superb for oily and acne prone skin. ‘Pond’s white beauty’ face wash and ‘clean and clear face wash’ are great ones too. They are easily available in the markets and online. The Body Shop have their respective outlets in almost all major markets but they are also available at bigger departmental store such as Al-Fatah and Green Valley. ‘The Pond’s White beauty’ is also easily available but I would recommend you to buy from a reputable shop only, because there are many cheaper and low quality versions of this face wash in the market also which are not at all good for the skin.
Again, one should use foundation according to their skin types. Matte and satin finish foundations are composed for oily skin types where as luminous and hydrating foundations for dry skin types. Choosing from the texture of foundations, powder, mousse and cream foundations are comfortable for oily faces. While drier skin people should opt for liquid ones. Same is the rule for concealers. L’Oreal infalliable, Maybelline poreless Fit Me, Dior skin Forever, Estee Lauder double wear are excellent. You can order all of these foundations from the ‘Fashion Afford’ on Instagram.
5. Masks and setting sprays;
These are some of the ‘over the top’ techniques that really ensure the prevention of oils. Using a mattifying mask or using ‘milk of Magnesia, prior to makeup helps to stop skin producing oils during the day. Many Bridal salons use this technique on brides before applying makeup so that they look effortlessly flawless on their big day. The Body Shop Himalayan charcoal clay mask, multani mitti or any clay mask will do the thing. Again, these products are easily available at all good stores across Pakistan. Checkout ‘The Body Shop’s Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask’s’ Review here. Setting sprays are the last and most important step that many people forget. They tend to fix and lock the makeup in place which also increase the longitivtiy of the makeup. Use a specialized makeup setting spray that is designed to stop oils like Urban Decay de-slick makeup setting spray. You can order this one as well from the ‘Fashion Afford at Instagram’.
